The World (originally called “WWF New York”) was a retail, dining and nightclub location formerly owned and operated by World Wrestling Entertainment. It was in the Paramount Theatre building at the corner of Broadway and 43rd streets in New York City.
The World opened in 1999, and the nightclub and restaurant portion of the facility closed in 2003. The retail store at the location remained open until 2006 when the Hard Rock Cafe took over the space. The WWE does not currently operate any of its own retail stores as of 2014. It sells merchandise through the WWE website and a more limited amount through retailers such as Kmart, Hot Topic, Kohl’s and Target.
