Walgreens offers TB skin testing in its stores that have the Walgreens Healthcare Clinics, according to its website, Walgreens.com. PPD/tuberculosis testing costs $28, as of 2015, which is payable by cash, credit or debit card.
PPD/tuberculosis testing requires the injection of fluid containing the tuberculin organism under the skin, notes Walgreens.com. Patients exposed to the TB bacterium develop a hard, raised area on the skin at the site of injection. Patients taking the test return after 48 to 72 hours for evaluation of the injection site. The provider measures the site of injection and determines if the patient requires further testing for TB, including chest X-ray studies and blood tests.
