The opposite of finding the square root of a number is squaring the number. Squaring a number means multiplying the figure by itself. For example, the square root of four is two, and two squared is four.
Squaring is the same as raising a number to the power of two. It is usually denoted by putting a two in superscript after the number. The adjective used when describing squaring is “quadratic.” A square of an integer is called a square number or a perfect square. Integers are numbers that can be represented without any fractions. For example, 245, -15 and 0 are integers. Therefore, 60,025, 225 and 0 are perfect squares, as they are the corresponding squares of those integers.
