The testosterone level for an average adult female is between 15 and 70 nanograms per deciliter (ng/dL) of blood, according to Healthline. Testosterone is a sex steroid hormone found in both men and women.
Men have higher concentrations of testosterone than women because the hormone controls a man’s sex drive, regulates his sperm production, promotes muscle mass, increases his energy and influences his overall behavior. The testosterone level for an average adult male is between 270 and 1,070 ng/dL, explains Healthline. Testosterone also affects women, but women’s bodies do not need the same amount of testosterone as men’s do, because women are more sensitive to the hormone.
