How Many Watts Does a Toaster Use?
An average toaster uses between 800 and 1,400 watts. This number can vary depending on the make of the toaster and which settings are used.
Most appliances have a stamp or sticker that indicates their exact wattage use. Many times, these stamps are located on the bottom or back of an appliance. If no stamp is present, precise wattage use can be determined by multiplying the appliance’s amperes by the volts used. The amperes used can often be found on the stamp in place of the wattage listing. If amperes are also not listed, an ammeter can be used to determine the correct amperage. As for determining volts, most appliances use 120 volts, with the exception of large appliances, such as clothes dryers and water heaters, which use 220 volts.
