What Happened to John Jacobs and the Power Team?
In the early 2000s, John Jacobs went through a number of personal struggles that involved a divorce and an assault charge, which eventually led to the Power Team parting ways with the owner, going bankrupt and the official ending in 2003. There is currently a Power Team 2 that travels, performs and evangelizes in a similar way that the original Power Team did.
John Jacobs and the Power Team were a group of traveling Christian evangelists that performed acts of strength and various martial arts movements throughout the 1980s and 1990s. The group was created by John Jacobs who was originally a prison minister, and even though they most often performed in large mega-churches, they also did shows in schools and even appeared on numerous television broadcasts to promote a Christian lifestyle and spread the word of the Bible.
In the year 2000, John Jacobs went through a divorce with his wife of 16 years. Following the divorce, there were rifts within the team and Jacobs eventually was charged with assault after attacking another member of the team. The team parted ways with Jacobs, but eventually needed to file for bankruptcy on May 14, 2003.
A few years later, Todd Keene, who was one of the members of the original team, decided to pay back all debtors and resurrect the group. This group was labeled the “Power Team 2,” and is currently performing shows.
