What Are the Differences Between Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack Outlets?
Nordstrom Rack offers brands featured at Nordstrom stores, but at discounts of up to 70 percent. Although the brands are the same, many of the products are purchased specifically for Nordstrom Rack instead of for Nordstrom. Discontinued, unsuccessful or outdated items from Nordstrom are also offered at Nordstrom Rack.
Products coming from Nordstrom stores or its website account for 20 percent of the merchandise at Nordstrom Rack, while the rest is purchased for the outlet. When a designer makes a product for an outlet, it makes a cheaper version of another product. The end result is a similar-looking product that may have cheaper materials or fewer embellishments.
Although a majority of the products aren’t the same quality, the differences are often minor enough that people can’t tell the difference. High-end designer products often offer the best value, because those designers don’t have a dedicated outlet strategy. Outlet stores also offer discounts around holidays.
Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack both offer clothing and accessories for men, women and kids. Nordstrom products are available on Shop.Nordstrom.com, while Nordstrom Rack products are available on NordstromRack.com. Shop.Nordstrom.com has a sale section for discounted items, and NordstromRack.com offers a clearance section. Customers earn Nordstrom reward points for shopping at both locations and websites.
