In China, burping during a meal or following a meal is considered to be a sign of good manners. The Huffington Post reports that the practice is regarded as high praise for a cook and the servers. In fact, guests at a meal in China also make a mess around their dishes and plates and leave a little food behind to show they are grateful for such a bountiful, satisfying repast.
