Can Human Intestines Stretch Around the World?

The large and small intestines of the average adult human, when stretched, are only an average of 25 feet long and cannot stretch around the world. It would take the intestines of multiple humans to stretch the circumference of Earth.

It is a myth that the intestines from one person can stretch around the world. The circumference of the Earth is about 24,901 miles. Since the average adult intestines stretch about 25 feet, it would take 211.2 human intestines to span one mile. This means that it would take the intestines of 5,259,091.2 average adults to stretch around the entire world.
