Bill Gates helped invent MS-DOS, which later developed into the Windows OS, which became the system used in Windows 98, 99, ME, 2000 and XP. Gary Kildall invented the operating system that for the most part is still used in computers today and for which Gates is often wrongly credited.

Bill Gates invented and founded the Microsoft software corporation with Paul Allen. During his career at Microsoft, Gates held the positions of CEO and Chief Software Architect. He is the largest individual shareholder, with 6.4 percent of the common stock.

Some people claim that Bill Gates invented the Tablet before Apple invented the iPad, but the truth is unclear.
