Many of the African countries still hold the political systems introduced during European imperialism. During that time, Africans were also introduced to democracy and a constitution. The Europeans introduced industrial technology to Africa, which paved the way for the industrialization of many African countries. Several of the African markets are still based on the industrial markets of that era. The idea of nationalism introduced racism and social distinctions through the brutal treatment of African laborers by the imperialist westerners.
