Kia and Hyundai are not a single corporate entity. They are sister companies, both of which operate out of South Korea. Both Kia and Hyundai are known for producing inexpensive high-efficiency vehicles.

As of 2014, the Hyundai Motor Group owns a 32 percent share in Kia Motors. That is not a controlling interest, which used to be the case, but it does represent an affiliate interest. At present, the Hyundai Motor Group is the fourth-largest automotive manufacturer in the world, behind General Motors, Volkswagen and Toyota. In addition, it maintains affiliate relationships with a number of construction companies and steel suppliers.
